Unit1 Halloween
Ok...here's the scoop on Halloween:
Even at 38, Halloween is one of my favorite days of
the year for two reasons.
Reason #1 - my kids love it, they wear funny costumes
and it reminds me of being a kid.
Reason #2 - it's fun for adults because we laugh at our kids
and then go to adult parties and have a great time.
Halloween also really signifies the start of the Holidays
because the weather has started to change and the next day is
November and that means Thanksgiving and then Christmas.
It all starts with pumpkins around the middle of October.
We go to a big pumpkin patch out in the countryside at a place
in Carnation (about 40 minutes from Seattle).
The pumpkin patch is probably about an acre and
FULL of pumpkins of all types, sizes and colors.
You use a wheelbarrow and some clippers and you cut
your pumpkins off the vines when you find them and then
weight them in and pay(5 big pumpkins ends up costing about $15).
We usually carve the pumpkins a few days later and put them
out on our front porch and light a candle in them at night.
We never eat them because after Halloween they're usually
gross and moldy and we throw them away.
On the night of Halloween, the kids have their costumes ready
to go (they usually wear them all day to get ready) and
I take them with a few other fathers and kids around
the neighborhood and they get lots of candy (that the adults
seem to always end up eating). I usually deck out the front yard
and have a fog machine and scare kids as they come up to
the front door. After our kids are in bed, we'll have
some neighbors and friends over and some wine
and that's about it. Some times we'll get a babysitter
(like my mom) and go to a party!
Halloween is GREAT fun - for kids and adults!

Caseyってこんな人です!
My name is Casey Anderson, I'm 38 and live in Seattle,
Washington. My
wife's name is Bridget and I have two sons - Jack, who is almost 5 and
Patrick, who is almost 3. We also have a black lab named Chester and
he
is 8. We live in the North end of Seattle in an old tudor house that
was built in 1927. When it was originally built, it was a farm with
chickens, cows, etc. Now it's a neighborhood full of homes and very
close and convenient to downtown Seattle. I work for a company
called
Clear Channel and I sell radio advertising on three stations in Seattle
- KJR FM, Sports Radio and KUBE 93. I have been doing this work for
about 13 years and really enjoy it. We have a cabin on the Olympic
Peninsula (about one and a half hours from Seattle) and we spend 2 or 3
weekends a month there. The area is called Paradise Bay. We
love the
beach and it's a very peaceful place - a nice break from the city.
Most
of my relatives live in the Seattle area and we are a close family.
My
mom lives 20 blocks away. My sister and in-laws live about 10
minutes
away and my dad lives about 15 minutes away. All of my extended
family
is fairly close-by as well. In Seattle, we're heading into my
favorite
season - the Holidays. My kids are very excited about Halloween and
I
really like Thanksgiving and Christmas. It rains a lot and gets
cold,
but there is a feeling in the air that brings joy to a lot of people.
The Holiday Season is a great time of the year. HAPPY HALLOWEEN!
